Privacy Policy

How Climivo handles your data — simply and transparently.

This Privacy Policy explains how Climivo ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our weather and activities application (the "App").

1. Our approach to privacy

Climivo is designed to be private by default. The App is local-first: your profile, preferences, saved locations, and weather history are stored on your device. We do not operate servers that collect or store your personal data, we do not sell data, and we do not show advertising.

2. Information we collect

  • Location (optional): With your permission, we use your device location to show live weather for where you are and to tailor recommendations. You can always enter a location manually instead, and you can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
  • Profile preferences (optional): Information you choose to provide — such as your temperature preference, lifestyle, and activity interests — is stored locally on your device and used only to personalize scores and recommendations.
  • Weather data: Weather conditions for your selected locations are fetched from a third-party weather provider (see Section 4) and cached locally.
  • Usage data: We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or any tracking identifiers.

3. Permissions we request

  • Location: Used only to fetch weather for your current position when you choose "use my location".
  • Notifications (optional): Used only for alerts you opt into — such as incoming rain, high UV, and good-condition windows. Notifications are processed entirely on your device and can be disabled at any time.
  • Network: Required to fetch live weather data from the weather provider.

4. Third-party services

The App uses the Visual Crossing Weather API to retrieve weather data. When you request weather for a location, a minimal request containing that location (and nothing else) is sent to Visual Crossing. Their use of data is governed by their own terms and privacy policy, available at visualcrossing.com. We do not receive or store your personal information through this service beyond the weather data returned.

5. Data storage & security

All your data is stored locally on your device in an application database. It is not transmitted to us or to any cloud service. If you uninstall the App, your local data is removed with it.

6. Children's privacy

Climivo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

7. Your choices & controls

  • You can decline or revoke location and notification permissions at any time.
  • You can clear cached data, export, or delete your local data from the Profile screen.
  • Because data stays on your device, deleting the App removes your data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
